Transportation Spur

Transportation Spur and forming mist on Ettrema Creek. Ettrema Canyon in the Ettrema Wilderness.

The first time I descended into Ettrema, on Transportation Spur, it was the most exquisite nightmare. Just like a scene out of Indiana Jones with the clinging vines and many snakes.

On the banks of the creek, every couple of metres, there was a Black snake fighting off a Goanna. It was a surrealistic 4 days spent in the canyon until the climb out, up the waterfall on Bullfrog Creek ... the one gentle incline on Bullfrog Creek [link]

Ettrema Canyon is about 400 metres deep. This gigantic bite in the earth's crust, has the cleanest water in the South East. Some pools are very deep, yet they look only metres deep. Too deep to touch the bottom. In many of the canyons here, when the water is up, undertaking a swim with packs is unavoidable.

I'm sure words like AWESOME!!! and WOW!!! ... are said by anyone who climbs into this canyon but no one will hear, except for the black snakes who will still be fighting off the Goannas. Goannas eat Black snakes ... if they win.
